Getting started

Connect Google Shopping

1Connection

Enter your Merchant Center ID

It is the number at the top of Merchant Center, beside your business name. Channekt gives the connection its own private feed address.

Publish products

Publish from the products list as you would to any channel. Each product is checked for a price, a picture, a description and a page on your own shop before it joins the feed.

Products

out

Title, description, pictures, brand, barcode, condition, colour, size and weight, with each variant grouped under its product.

Prices

out

The price after this connection’s price rule. Where your recommended price is higher, it is the price and yours is the sale price.

Stock

out

In stock or out of stock, from the figure the last stock push recorded, so a product that sells out drops at the next fetch.

Product pages

in

The page each product links to, read from your own shop’s connection: the page a shopper lands on is the one Google checks.

Configuration

Google Shopping integration details

The feed is Google’s own XML format, so Merchant Center reads it with no mapping
The feed address carries its own secret, and reconnecting gives it a new one
A product without a barcode is marked as having none, so own-label goods are not refused for it
Withdrawing a product takes it out of the feed, and publishing again puts it back
Questions

Google Shopping frequently asked questions

Do I need a Merchant Center account?

Yes. Create one at merchants.google.com and verify your website there. Channekt sends the products; Merchant Center owns the listings and the ads.

Where do the product links point?

Each product links to its page on your own shop, which Channekt knows from your Shopify, WooCommerce, Magento, BigCommerce or EKM connection. Publish or import the product there first.

How often does Google see changes?

As often as you schedule the fetch in Merchant Center. The feed is built when Google asks for it, so every fetch has the current price and stock.

Does it work for Shopping ads and free listings?

Both. They read the same Merchant Center products, so one feed serves your free listings and every Shopping and Performance Max campaign.

Do orders come back?

Shoppers buy on your own shop, so those orders arrive through your shop’s connection with every other order.

Moving from another platform? We move you for free.

We import your catalogue, connect your channels and carriers, and stay with you through the first orders, on every plan. Your current system keeps running until you switch.
