Creating your account
Go to app.channekt.com/register. The form asks for six things and every one of them is used:
- First and last name. What appears beside anything you change, in the audit trail and on the pick lists you print.
- Email address. Your sign-in, and where a password reset goes.
- Password. At least eight characters. Longer beats more punctuation.
- Business name. The organisation everything belongs to. It can be changed later and it is what your team sees in the switcher.
- Country. Start typing and pick from the list. It decides how your invoices are taxed and it suggests your reporting currency.
- Currency you report in. Filled in from the country. Where a country has no obvious answer you are asked outright.
Press Create account and you are signed in. The trial starts at that moment, runs for 14 days and asks for no card. Nothing is limited during it.
The currency is the one thing worth thinking about now. Orders always keep the currency they were sold in and record the rate they were converted at, but your catalogue is priced in the reporting currency. Changing it later offers to convert every price at a quoted rate, which works and is still a rate somebody has to review.
Confirming your email
A message arrives with a confirmation link. Opening it confirms the address and nothing else, and the link expires. If it never arrives, check the spam folder first, then ask for a password reset from the sign-in page: it proves the same thing and reaches the same mailbox.
Forgotten passwords are handled from Forgot your password? on the sign-in page. The link it sends works once and expires in an hour, and choosing a new password signs you out everywhere else.
Finding your way around
The screen is in four parts, and they are the same on every page.
- The sidebar holds Dashboard, Orders, Products, Stock, Warehouses, Channels, Fulfilment, Returns, Reports and Settings. It collapses to icons, and the choice is remembered for your account.
- Search, at the top, covers products, orders and the screens themselves. Ctrl K opens it from anywhere, and results appear as you type.
- Notifications collect anything that needs a person: a connection that has stopped working, a run that failed, an order that cannot be filled.
- Your account menu, at the bottom of the sidebar, holds your own details, the appearance setting (auto, light or dark), the organisation switcher, billing and background jobs.
The Dashboard is written to answer one question - what is happening right now - and it is the screen to trust when you have five minutes: orders in the last 24 hours, what is waiting to go out, what is held up, what is out of stock, runs that failed and connections to fix. Anything that needs you is a line with a link straight to it.
The first three things
In this order, and the third is where the product starts being worth having.
- Connect one channel, the one with the best catalogue. See Connecting a channel.
- Import it. Products, variants, prices and pictures land in your catalogue. Follow the run on the Jobs screen; a large shop takes a few minutes.
- Connect the second channel. One stock figure, two shops: a sale on either lowers the number the other advertises.
After that, three things are worth doing before you publish anything: match your categories on each marketplace, add safety details if you sell into the EU, and set a warehouse address, because a marketplace will not quote postage without somewhere to ship from.
Inviting the team
- Go to Settings › People.
- Under Invite someone, type their email address and choose a role.
- Press Send invitation. They get a link that works once, choose their own password and land in your organisation.
Roles are sets of permissions rather than labels, and the full table is on the Settings and people page. A picker can pick without being able to see a customer's telephone number; an accountant can see the money without being able to change a listing.
More than one organisation
One sign-in can belong to several organisations - a second business, a client's account. The switcher is at the bottom of the sidebar, and everything on the screen belongs to whichever one is selected. Products, orders, stock, connections and people are never shared between them.
